The Washington Wizards have reportedly not made shooting guard Bradley Beal available in trade talks during the 2019 NBA offseason.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported Wednesday that although Beal’s name “will come up over and over” as teams search for a third star before or during next season, the Wizards haven’t indicated they’re willing to deal him.

In July, Washington general manager Tommy Sheppard told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the team was going to offer Beal a three-year maximum contract extension and didn’t plan to trade the guard even if he didn’t sign the new deal.

“He’s got two years left on his deal, and he’s from Missouri and we are going to have to show him,” Sheppard said. “We need to show him that we are about building this the right way, that we aren’t going to have character-deficient guys around him. We are going to surround him with guys he wants to play with.”

If he doesn’t ink an extension with the Wizards, Beal can become a free agent in 2021 after completing a five-year, $127.2 million contract.

Washington finished with a 32-50 record last season, the sixth-worst mark in the NBA, after losing point guard John Wall to heel surgery. Wall later suffered a torn Achilles from a fall at his home, and team owner Ted Leonsis told reporters it will “probably” keep him sidelined for the entire 2019-20 campaign.

The Wiz are likely to struggle again next season because of their lack of talent around Beal without his backcourt running mate.

Beal, the third overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, has averaged 19.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals across 488 career games for Washington. He put up a career-best 25.6 points per contest last season with Wall limited to 32 appearances.

His name figures to spend most of the season in the rumor mill, especially if the Wizards get off to a poor start, but so far, the front office hasn’t shown any interest in putting him on the trade block.

Cheap Golden State Warriors Jerseys

The new NBA season remains over six weeks away, but last season’s statistics offer us some hints as to what to expect from the Golden State Warriors’ latest signings.
A summer of transition has brought plenty of new faces to The Bay, stimulating much speculation about their place and role on the Golden State Warriors roster.

purple and gold?

How much should D’Angelo Russell play with Stephen Curry? Who starts at small forward? Where does Willie Cauley-Stein fit in after Kevon Looney‘s recent performances and subsequent contract?

These questions will only be conclusively answered once the season starts when we can see how sets of players fit together in real, competitive NBA games.

Statistics, meanwhile, should only be used to legitimize an argument that is based on live-action, not vice-versa.

Nevertheless, in the doldrums of the offseason where the new Warriors are yet to make their debuts, the numbers take on a greater role.

Facts and figures can provide indications of how Golden State can get the best out of their additions immediately, by signaling which players could complement their team-mates’ games, and who may fit which role the best.

By examining data relating to the three Warriors acquisitions who played the most minutes last season, a rough template of how they should be deployed can be created.

Cheap Houston Rockets Jerseys

Houston Rockets center Nene Hilario, known best around the NBA simply as Nene, will return for his 18th NBA season.

The Athletic’s Kelly Iko reported Tuesday that Nene intends to re-sign with the Rockets. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on June 29 that the 36-year-old had declined his 2019-20 player option worth $3.8 million to become a free agent.

Nene has been in Houston since 2016, but the Brazil native’s best years came as a Denver Nugget from 2002-12. Nene was a prominent starter in the Mile High City, starting all 82 games in 2009-10. In 2011, the Nuggets rewarded him with a five-year extension worth upwards of $67 million.

From there, he spent most of five seasons with the Washington Wizards before he joined the Rockets. Through every stop, he actively tried to preserve himself in order to last as many seasons as he could.

“When you have good mentors and vets to look up to, you listen to their convos,” Nene told Vice Sports in Feb. 2018. “… When I was younger, they told me not to dunk as much in practice because it wouldn’t count for anything extra. Dunk. Layup. Both [are] two points.”

Even with that wisdom in tow, Nene has been banged up throughout his career, specifically during his time in Washington. In 2013, he disclosed that the pain associated with his plantar fasciitis was “tough enough” for him to think about ending his career, Matt Moore of CBS Sports reported.

However, Nene continues to tough it out.

Last season, the veteran’s numbers dropped. Across 42 regular-season games (two starts), he averaged just 3.6 points and 2.9 rebounds—his lowest qualified numbers since the New York Knicks, who shipped him to Denver, drafted him No. 7 overall in 2002.

The 2018-19 season ended for Nene and the Rockets when the Golden State Warriors beat them in a six-game Western Conference semifinal series.

Cheap Manchester City Jerseys

Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has allegedly flown to Spain in order to discover the extent of a knee injury sustained against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The France international was stretched off during the first half of the 4-0 victory over the Seagulls, immediately leading to concerns over his availability going forward.

Despite undergoing a scan in the North-West, The Mirror claims that the 25-year-old has since flown to Barcelona to be assessed by Dr Ramon Cugat.

Having undergone tests on Monday, the report claims that Laporte is expected to be ruled out for a number of months as a result of ligament damage.

The setback for the former Athletic Bilbao man comes at a time when City are already without John Stones, leaving Fernandinho to deputise during the remaining minutes against Brighton.

Manager Pep Guardiola has said that City were unable to afford a replacement for Vincent Kompany during the summer transfer window.

Cheap Juventus Jerseys

Han Kwang Song, the first North Korean footballer to score in the Italian Serie A league, has joined reigning champions Juventus on loan from Cagliari.

Han signed a one-year contract with the club with an option to buy after the year ends for five million euros ($5.5m).

Juventus, who have won the Italian top league for the last eight seasons, announced the transfer on the Juventus under-23 Twitter account, where Han, 20, is expected to play.

The Juventus under-23 squad plays in the Serie C, Italy’s third-tier league.

Han has played for Cagliari since 2017, when he became the first North Korean footballer in the Serie A after making his debut against Palermo that same year.

He scored his first goal in a 3-2 defeat at Torino in April 2017.

During the 2017-18 season, he was loaned to Perugia in the Serie B, where he scored 11 times in 36 appearances.

Han was one of the standouts during the remarkable run the North Korea under-17 squad had during the 2015 World Cup in Chile, when the national squad made it to the last 16.

He was also praised during the 2014 Asian under-16 Championship in Thailand, where he scored in every match except the semi-final and led the North Koreans to the title with a 2-1 win over South Korea.

Cheap Philadelphia 76ers Jerseys

The Philadelphia 76ers improved their depth this summer, but there’s still some expendable players on the roster entering this upcoming season.
Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand made a lot of moves this summer. He reshaped the Sixers from the starting five to the bench. Despite all these changes, there could still be improvements made to the roster. Heading into this season, there are three players that should be considered expendable, in case the 76ers need to add more talent via trade or free agency.

Who Do The Kings Go To In The Clutch?

Norvel Pelle
It might be a little unfair to have a player on a two-way contract on this list, but to say that Norvel Pelle isn’t expandable would be a lie. The Sixers used a draft pick on Marial Shayok, the team’s other two-way contract player. Pelle on the other hand played with the 76ers G-League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats, last season before he was signed to a two-way deal this summer. Which means Philly has more invested in Shayok than Pelle in terms of their two-way contract players.

Pelle is the Sixers last player on their center depth chart. As I wrote about in the past, players like Joel Embiid, Al Horford, Kyle O’Quinn and Jonah Bolden are all clearly ahead of Pelle. Even players like Mike Scott and Ben Simmons could be called to fill in at center before Pelle.

Another thing to consider is that Pelle is 26-years-old and doesn’t have much room to improve. If the Sixers decide they want to develop a younger center from the G-League, then moving on from Pelle would make sense. In terms of of both center depth and value as a two-way contract player, Pelle is expendable.

Cheap Carolina Hurricanes Jerseys

RALEIGH, N.C. — Carolina Hurricanes captain Justin Williams says he is taking a break from the NHL to start this season.

With the start of training camp looming later this month, the 37-year-old forward said Monday that he will “step away” from the sport.

“This is the first time in my life that I’ve felt unsure of my aspirations with regards to hockey,” Williams said in a statement released by the team. “For as long as I can remember, my whole offseason until this point has been hockey and doing what was necessary to prepare for the upcoming season.

“Because of my current indecision, and without the type of mental and physical commitment that I’m accustomed to having, I’ve decided to step away from the game,” he added.

Williams is an unrestricted free agent and three-time Stanley Cup champion whose two-year contract with Carolina expired after last season. He took over the team captaincy last year and led the Hurricanes to the Eastern Conference final in their first playoff berth since 2009.

Williams has 312 goals and 474 assists in his 18-year career with Carolina, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Washington. He was a key member of the Hurricanes’ 2006 Cup championship team and also won it twice with the Kings, earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2014.

He had 23 goals and 30 assists while playing all 82 regular-season games last season, then had four goals and three assists during the Hurricanes’ three playoff rounds.

General manager Don Waddell says the Hurricanes prepared for the possibility of not having Williams.

Cheap New Orleans Pelicans Jerseys

The New Orleans Pelicans are one of the most interesting teams in the NBA heading into the 2019-20 campaign, which is probably not something anyone would have anticipated seven months ago when Anthony Davis demanded a trade.

And yet, here we are, as the Pelicans won the Zion Williamson sweepstakes and also landed Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball in a blockbuster deal that sent Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers, so they have an intriguing stable of young talent.

But is New Orleans truly the sleeper playoff contender that some have made it out to be going into next season?

Here are five bold predictions for the Pelicans.

5. They Won’t Contend for a Playoff Spot
I’m not sure how “bold” this is, but based on how many people seriously think the Pelicans can make a push for one of the last couple of playoff spots in the Western Conference, I have to include it here.

Maybe if they were in the East, it would be a different story, but I just don’t see how the Pels can really compete for a postseason berth in the West.

Pelicans, JJ Redick

Let’s think about this for a second: the Clippers, Lakers, Warriors, Nuggets, Jazz, Rockets, and Blazers are all probably locks. That leaves just one playoff spot available with the Kings, Spurs, Mavericks and Timberwolves all fighting for that slot along with the Pelicans.

I know New Orleans has a lot of reasons to be excited about its future, but I personally find the hype surrounding the team heading into the 2019-20 campaign to be quite a bit over the top.

4. Brandon Ingram Will Be the Team’s Leading Scorer
I’m not necessarily a huge fan of Ingram as a prospect, but there is no doubting that he does have some talent, and right now, he is probably the best scorer on the Pelicans.

Ingram averaged 18.3 points per game over 52 contests with the Lakers this past season, and while he wasn’t absurdly efficient, he was still solid, posting a true-shooting percentage of 55.5 percent.

Brandon Ingram, Pelicans

Of course, the No. 1 concern with Ingram is his health, as he has battled nagging injury issues since entering the NBA in 2015 and is coming off of a scare with blood clots.

Hopefully, Ingram will be healthy enough to play a full season this year, and if he does, look for him to lead New Orleans in scoring.

3. They’ll Trade One of JJ Redick or Derrick Favors
The Pelicans picked up both JJ Redick and Derrick Favors this summer, signing Redick outright and swinging a trade with the Utah Jazz for Favors. Both guys are on short-term deals (two years for Redick and one for Favors), so they both have some value on the trade market.

I’m not sure New Orleans will deal both of them, but I think that by the February trade deadline, one of them will be playing elsewhere, as contending teams could certainly use either player.

Derrick Favors, Pelicans, Jazz

Redick is certainly a more valuable piece in a vacuum given his lights-out shooting from long range, but given that Favors is on an expiring contract, he seems like the more likely of the two to get moved.

The Pelicans might also want to keep Redick around for veteran leadership, which is another plus for him.

But the Pels will (or at least should) explore the trade market for Redick and Favors between now and the deadline.

2. They’ll Gauge the Market for Jrue Holiday
The Pelicans really, really seem to like Jrue Holiday, so trading him seems relatively unlikely at this point, but I think the Pels would be doing themselves a disservice to not at least gauge his value around the league.

Holiday is a very good two-way player, but the catch is that he has two years remaining on his current contract, plus a player option for a third year in 2021-22.

Jrue Holiday, Pelicans

Will the Pelicans be able to get enough value for Holiday to trade him in spite of that deal?

Probably not, and it’s also fair to mention that Holiday, who is now 29 years old, has only played 70 games twice since the 2012-13 campaign, so he is an injury risk.

But again, it can’t hurt to at least try and see what other teams are offering, and I’m sure the Pels will put some feelers out there at some point over the next five months or so.

1. Zion Williamson Will Be Disappointing
People are expecting Williamson to immediately come in and dominate the league, with some already declaring him to be the most valuable asset in the entire NBA, and that seems foolish.

Zion-Williamson-Pelicans

We have yet to even see Zion play an actual game (heck, he only played a few minutes in Summer League), and there is also no doubt that he has some holes that need fixing.

I think we are also neglecting the fact that the Pelicans will probably take it very easy with Williamson during his rookie year, and in today’s game where load management is becoming more and more prevalent, don’t be surprised if Williamson ends up missing 20 games or so.

I’m not saying Williamson will be bad, but thinking he is going to instantly be a star is pushing it.

Cheap Los Angeles Dodgers Jerseys

PHOENIX — The fourth-inning pitch clanked off Jake Lamb’s bat at 92 mph straight for Dustin May’s head and the gangly Dodgers right-hander could not get out of the way in time.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts frantically leaped over the dugout rail the instant the line drive ricocheted off May’s head and flew into left field. He had to wait to run out to the pitcher until the play concluded, after two Arizona Diamondbacks scored to tie the score.

May twisted in pain on his back, his blue cap on the ground, leaving his long red curls uncovered. He laid there for a couple of minutes as Roberts and trainer Yosuke Nakajima checked on him. Chase Field was silent. Lamb observed from first base, worry etched on his face, on one knee.

The pitcher stood up to cheers and, after a short conversation, he walked off the mound, his second career relief appearance concluding with a scare long before the Dodgers came from behind for a 4-3 win in 11 innings on Joc Pederson’s tie-busting home run.

May evaded catastrophe. He passed a concussion test and said he wasn’t dealing with any lingering symptoms after the game.

“When it hit me at first, it really just frightened me,” May said. “And then when I was on the ground, it was like, ‘Well, dang, I wish that wouldn’t have happened.’”

May exited with runners on first and second with two outs. Adam Kolaek replaced him and surrendered a run-scoring single to give Arizona a 3-2 lead. The score stayed that way until the Diamondbacks summoned left-hander Andrew Chafin to face the left-handed-hitting Cody Bellinger with one out in the ninth inning.

The matchup went the Dodgers’ way. Bellinger clobbered a solo home run in the ninth inning to tie the score. It was home run No. 43 on the season for Bellinger, tying Mike Trout and Pete Alonso for the major league lead, and his 16th off a left-hander. He has belted the most home runs for a left-handed batter against left-handed pitching since Curtis Granderson compiled 16 in 2011.

Two innings later, after the Diamondbacks stranded two runners in the 10th inning, Pederson whacked the eighth pitch he saw from right-hander Taylor Clarke over the right-field wall to pull the Dodgers ahead. The homer, Pederson’s 28th, traveled 454 feet.

“It was as big of a hit for us as we’ve had all year,” Roberts said.

Pedro Baez logged a perfect 11th inning to record his first career save in his 329th appearance. With the win, the Dodgers snapped Arizona’s six-game winning streak and avoided their first four-game sweep since the St. Louis Cardinals swept them in April. They leave Arizona after a 3-4 trip with an 18-game lead in the National League West, 4 1/2 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves for home-field advantage in the playoffs. The magic number to clinch their seventh straight division title is seven.

“To come in here and lose four, there’s a lot, I hate saying pressure, but it was kind of a must-win situation as far as getting back on the winning track,” Roberts said.

Ross Stripling took the mound for an abbreviated start after being reinstated from the injured list Sunday knowing he’ll probably need a strong September to claim a spot on the postseason pitching staff — and even that might not be enough. He began making his case with a strong outing Sunday. The right-hander faced the minimum over three innings with help from two double plays. He gave up two hits and struck out two in 31 pitches.

David Freese, also activated Sunday, slugged the first homer in his first plate appearance since July 23 off left-hander Alex Young. It was the veteran’s 10th home run, giving the Dodgers 10 players with double-digit homers this season. Russell Martin, the team’s other 36-year-old veteran, smacked another solo shot to lead off the third.

The opposite-field blast gave the Dodgers 236 home runs on the season, breaking their previous franchise record of 235 set last year. Bellinger and Pederson increased the total to 238. There are 23 regular-season games remaining to pad the number.

May relieved Stripling in the fourth inning with a two-run cushion seeking to improve on his first shot out of the bullpen. Adrenaline and oppressive Georgia heat helped torpedo his first opportunity against the Atlanta Braves on Aug. 18. The 21-year-old prospect surrendered a grand slam before settling down in his two innings.

May’s outing Sunday began with an eight-pitch strikeout of Jarrod Dyson. He was the only batter May retired. Tim Locastro, a thorn in the Dodgers’ side all weekend, reached on an infield single. Ketel Marte and Eduardo Escobar followed with singles to left field to load the bases for Lamb.

May started the at-bat with a 91-mph cutter high for a ball. The next pitch, a 96-mph sinker, whistled in for a called strike. His third, and final, offering was a quality pitch, another 96-mph sinker low and away, out of the strike zone. But Lamb reached and barreled it. May’s glove grazed it before it plunked hit, but he dropped to the ground in a flash, the game abruptly taking a backseat to his well-being.

“I’m really just kind of upset that I didn’t catch it,” May said, “because it hit my glove.”

Cheap Brazil Jerseys

In the opening match of Group F, Brazil defeated New Zealand (94-102), with Leandro Barbosa leading the way with a game-high 22 points.

Aside from the legendary Brazilian guard/forward, Rafa Luz and Alex Garcia added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the winners.

On the other hand, five players scored in double figures for the losing squad, with Corey Webster having a team-high 19 points.

New Zealand remained competitive until halftime (20-21, 50-50), yet the Brazilians took over after that. They went on a 12-28 run in the third quarter to earn a 16-point lead (62-78). New Zealand never recovered after that and were defeated.

On Tuesday (03/09), Brazil will clash with Greece, while New Zealand will battle Montenegro.
